Maths

The maths department will set regular homework's linked to the particular units that are being studied in each term. The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.

English

Reading project.  Students complete up to 10 reading tasks on a variety of texts and genres.  The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.

History

Castles - you are to do a research project on the growth of castles in the United Kingdom.  Some ideas: Why were castles developed? How did they change over time? What were the main features of a castle? What was life like in a castle? What were the strengths and weaknesses of castles? A case study of a local castle or a comparison of two different castles–How you decide to present this is up to you.  Some ideas: you could write a booklet, make a poster, make a webpage, visit a castle and make a tourist guide, make models of castles, make a video tour of a castle, compare 2 different castles, give a talk or presentation about castles etc Your finished project needs to be detailed, professional and exciting. 

Spanish

Use the fact file provided by the teacher to create your own version in Spanish.

Research your chosen animal. Where does it live? What does it eat? What is it like?

Make sure you only use Spanish

If using adjectives make sure you choose the correct form – masculine / feminine

Illustrate your fact files – you can download pictures or draw your own.

Art

Basic Skills

Pupils will be expected to research ‘Colour Theory’ / Mark Making / tonal shading. .  The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.

Technology

In Technology years 7, 8 and 9, students work on projects in ten week cycles. As they move to each new technology project their teacher will issue them with a booklet related to that unit.  It is expected that students complete each unit of homework alongside the unit of study. In Food technology, students have a choice of two homework tasks

Computing

In computing year 7 students will be issued with a research project menu. They are expected to choose one topic, complete the research and provide a report or digital artefact of their choice. A homework club runs weekly to support students who do not have access to IT facilities at home

Science

Science safety guidebook -  Produce a guidebook that details how to be safe in a lab. It should feature important safety rules, examples of how to correctly use equipment, and what to do when a situation becomes unsafe. The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.

Geography

 They are to complete the Ebola Africa Research Booklet.  The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.

PE

Investigate the rules, regulations and scoring systems in the new sports that you will cover in PE this year. 

We would like you to produce a leaflet with lots of useful information such as what the court/pitch looks like, what are the playing positions and what do the officials have to do! You may choose 1 of the following sports: Netball, Football, Rugby, Hockey. The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.
